It's little bit confused when I read his quote but I think he tells that his portrait works tells more about him than the people he photograph. I forgot the number of prompt but I mentioned earlier that before taking somebody's portrait, we should know that person enough so that helps to capture more than just a person. However, after I read Richard Avedon's quote, I also agree with his idea that photography can be for other people but also it comes from photographers' mind and thought so, it's all about photographer's matter.
