Judith Golden (semi-contemporary)

Judith Golden grew up on Southern part of Chicago. Her life environment affect her works a lot. As a child, she attended Art institute of Chicago as B.F.A degree and she attended graduate school at University of California at Davis. When she was in California, the funk movement, often irreverent and humorous made her  to start work with self-portrait, role-playing and caricatures spoofing media.
In1980, she accepted a faculty position at University of Arizona, Tucson. In this year, she inspired by Native American's rituals. This became the basis for her images which has the explanation of connection between human and nature.
Golden explores the intersections between reality and illusion by mixing traditional techniques and contemporary cultural references, handwork and technology, rational discovery and uncharted flights of fantasy.

I make images because they are my reason to be, because I must.
